VMware Lead Solution Architect (m/f/d)
Client operates regional datacenter operations across EMEA, AMER, and APAC. The work interfaces with infrastructure, network, security, operations, PMO, Vendor Management Office, technology vendors, and service providers. The role requires an independent, evidence-based, vendor-neutral approach that can bridge executive stakeholders with technical specialists.

Your Tasks

Assess the current datacenter environment, infrastructure landscape, and technology dependencies.

Consolidate business, operational, security, resilience, and technical requirements into vendor-neutral architecture principles.

Define target architecture across compute, virtualization, storage, networking, platform services, backup, disaster recovery, automation, and management.

Identify and assess solutions from major vendors and platform providers.

Develop alternative architecture scenarios and evaluate benefits, risks, complexity, feasibility, and strategic fit.

Create an objective comparison matrix and decision framework.

Assess hardware reuse, lifecycle constraints, and compatibility of existing infrastructure

Evaluate internal, hybrid, and externally managed operating models and their implications

Define a high-level migration approach and roadmap with key risks

Provide technical assumptions and validation inputs for licensing, support, lifecycle, sizing, operational effort, migration effort, BOM, and TCO work. Deliverables include current-state assessment; requirements and architecture principles; target architecture; technology option assessment; feasibility and risk analysis; architecture decision matrix; recommended technology stack; high-level migration roadmap; licensing and BOM assumptions; support and lifecycle assumptions; operational and migration effort estimates; sizing and cost-driver assumptions; refresh assumptions; compatibility constraints; high-level operating model cost categories; executive management recommendation; technology selection report; and contribution to the Client-led TCO evaluation.
Requirements

strong end-to-end datacenter architecture knowledge spanning compute, storage, networking, virtualization, backup, disaster recovery, monitoring, automation, and management platforms

strong Microsoft Azure architecture experience is required, including landing zones, networking, compute, storage, security, policy, monitoring, and cost/FinOps considerations

knowledge of enterprise virtualization and VDI environments, cloud and hybrid environments, and the ability to define migration roadmaps, dependencies, sequencing, risks, and effort assumptions

workshops and advisory work with infrastructure, network, security, operations, vendor teams, and CIO/Director-level stakeholders
